Day 2 – CANALE DI TENNO
Laying on the hills of the Trentino side of Lake Garda, Canale di Tenno is a medieval village as intact as it is old, of which we have records dating back to 1211. The village still retains its original structure, with the two main streets meeting to form a small square. Intricate cobbled alleys, arches and stone houses complete a picture frozen in time. Today Canale counts 50 residents, but thanks to its entry in the list of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, it can now rely on a increased flow of tourists and on many events to promote its beauty, art and typical food and wine products. After WWII, the village was abandoned but in the sixties it became a destination for many artists, inspired by the magnificent village, the spectacular view over Lake Garda and its surroundings. One of them, Giacomo Vittone, who chose Canale for his works. The Home of the Artist is a meeting place for artists coming from all over Europe. Following visit to Acetaia del Balsamico, which is much more than a farm: situated on the hills of Cologna di Tenno, surrounded by own vineyards and with unique view over the lake, it is the only one producing balsamic vinegar in Trentino region. Lunch at your leisure and free time, recommending a walk on your own to Lake Tenno a turquoise diamond with a small island. Return to Ponte Arche. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – FIAVE'- RANGO
Hotel breakfast. Departure to a local agricultural farm. After a visit with tasting, we will continue to the Pile dwelling museum in Fiavè, located in the old Carli house in Fiavé, a small village in western Trentino. The museum displays how the daily life was in the prehistoric Trentino, thanks to one of the biggest models ever realised, with more than 70 characters. In the modern and interactive museum you will see pottery, bronze, Baltic amber and gold jewels, wooden objects, well preserved for thousands of years. Lunch at your leisure and continuation to Rango, listed in 2011 among the Most Beautiful villages of italy. Rango certainly represents the highest expression of Trentino’s typical rural architecture. Arcades, cellars, hallways, cobbled streets and old stone dwellings crowding together make up the historic core of the village, silent witness of the old Trentino rural way of life that still appears to permeate its streets, far away from the frenzy of modern life.Continuation to Balbido, the Murals’ village, where the several paintings of various styles evoke the hard peasant’s work, with all the aspects of the one-time rural life. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – CASTEL STENICO
Hotel breakfast and following visit to Castel Stenico, an enchanting castle and its treasures, between Lake Garda and the Dolomites, hunched on the brow of a hill, dominating the area of the outer Giudicarie valley, a land where tasty walnuts are cultivated and still picked by hand since XXVI century, a slow food praesidia. End of services.
